What we do
-
We create transformational journeys using an integrated approach of relief assistance, recovery opportunities, and holistic development.
-
We engage diverse communities on the ground in Yemen with an understanding of their value, resources and desires for a better future.
-
Communities in Yemen are being crushed by poverty, injustice and social frictions due to the ongoing crisis.
WHO WE ARE
ITDC was founded in 1969 as the “Swedish Center”, a vocational center focused on poverty reduction, and community development. Over the subsequent decades ITDC left a legacy of improving the lives of Yemenis across multiple generations.
During the following years, and particularly with the onset of the civil war in 2015, ITDC has expanded its activities, programs and geographic areas to include a wider spectrum of relief, recovery and development programming across multiple governorates of Yemen.
OUR PLAN IN 3 STEPS
Providing Relief Assistance
We provide urgent and temporary provision of humanitarian assistance to reduce immediate suffering and save lives during times of crisis.
Recovery Opportunities
As the crisis comes to an end, we seek to restore people and their communities to the positive elements of their pre-crisis conditions by supporting them in their own recovery.
Holistic Development
Alongside individuals and communities, we create journeys toward sustainable relationships with each other, their community, and the environment while transitioning from poverty or despair to holistically wholesome lives.
